Civil / QA/QC Engineer
Role Overview:
The Civil / QA/QC Engineer is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and quality control processes related to civil works in solar energy projects. This includes ensuring that all civil engineering activities, from site preparation to foundation work and construction of infrastructure, meet the required standards, specifications, and regulations. With 8 years of experience, including 5 years in similar works, the role also requires expertise in monitoring and implementing effective QA/QC procedures to guarantee the quality and safety of the projectβs civil components.
Key Responsibilities: Civil / QA/QC Engineer
1. Civil Engineering Quality Assurance:
β’ Develop and implement quality control and assurance plans for civil works in solar projects, ensuring compliance with both local and international standards.
β’ Review and approve civil engineering design drawings, specifications, and construction plans to ensure they meet project requirements.
β’ Monitor and ensure that civil works (including foundation works, site preparation, and installation of civil infrastructure) comply with quality standards, industry codes, and contractual specifications.
2. QA/QC Inspections & Testing:
β’ Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess the quality of work being performed by contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
β’ Ensure proper testing of materials and completed works, including concrete strength, soil compaction, and reinforcement quality, among others.
β’ Oversee the sampling and testing of construction materials to verify their compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
β’ Maintain detailed records of QA/QC inspections, including test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
3. Documentation & Reporting:
β’ Maintain a comprehensive record of all QA/QC activities, including inspection reports, material certifications, and test results.
β’ Prepare regular quality assurance reports for the Project Manager and other stakeholders, outlining the progress of QA/QC activities, issues identified, and solutions implemented.
β’ Assist in preparing final project documentation, including as-built drawings and quality certificates, for project handover to clients.
4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action:
β’ Identify non-conformities in civil works and provide corrective action plans to address them.
β’ Work closely with site engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to implement corrective actions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
β’ Ensure that all corrective actions are followed up on-site and the necessary adjustments are made to meet project specifications.
5. Coordination & Communication:
β’ Coordinate with project management, engineering teams, contractors, and external quality inspectors to ensure smooth QA/QC procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
β’ Provide technical advice and recommendations on civil works quality to other engineers, contractors, and clients.
β’ Act as the liaison between the QA/QC department and the construction team to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the construction process.
6. Safety & Compliance:
β’ Ensure that all civil works meet local health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
β’ Conduct regular safety audits to ensure that site practices comply with safety protocols and risk assessments.
β’ Ensure that the civil works do not compromise the integrity of the solar systems and the overall project safety.
7. Quality Control of Civil Materials & Resources:
β’ Ensure the quality of construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, etc.) by reviewing certifications, conducting inspections, and verifying their suitability for the project.
β’ Supervise the handling, storage, and transportation of materials to prevent damage or contamination before and during use.
8. Training & Development:
β’ Provide guidance and training to site engineers, subcontractors, and other project staff on QA/QC procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
β’ Promote a culture of continuous improvement in quality practices across the team.

Qualifications & Experience: Civil / QA/QC Engineer
β’ Education:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
β’ Certifications in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or similar disciplines are highly desirable.
β’ Experience:
β’ Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in solar energy, construction, or renewable energy sectors.
β’ Proven experience in managing quality assurance and quality control for civil works, particularly in solar projects.
β’ Experience working with relevant standards, codes, and regulations in civil construction and quality control.
β’ Skills:
β’ In-depth knowledge of civil engineering design and construction practices, including foundation works, concrete testing, and structural components.
β’ Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, testing methods, and inspection protocols.
β’ Proficiency with QA/QC documentation and reporting, including maintaining records of tests, inspections, and corrective actions.
β’ Familiarity with construction software tools, AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management software.
β’ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
β’ Other Requirements:
β’ Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the project.
β’ Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate between different teams (engineering, contractors, and clients).
β’ Ability to work effectively under pressure and ensure that project timelines and quality standards are met.
β’ Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
